Players to watch out for at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

These players are one of the best in the world and have been really important for their respective teams. So you should keep a close eye on these players during the World Cup games so as to witness greatness with your naked eyes.

The American striker, 34 years of age, is still at the top of her game. She's expected to lead USWNT in the World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. After having an amazing season for her club, San Diego Wave in the NWSL, she's ready to deliver for her country and would like to win the World Cup for the third time in a row.

Alexa Morgan has played 13 times for her country in the World Cups and have chipped in with 7 goals and 3 assists. After winning the 2022 CONCACAF Women's championship and becoming the best player of that tournament, she's on a high and would like to play with the same confidence for her country in order to create history.

Khadija Shaw, Jamaica

The 26-year-old forward is probably one of the most in form players in the world right now. In 2022-23 season she has scored 31 goals in 30 appearances, which is a record breaking season for any player. The Manchester City player will be looking to help her team out at the World Cup stage by playing with the same intensity and passion.

Show has scored 55 goals in 38 appearances for her country, which makes her the highest scoring player for Jamaica. This is only Jamaica's second ever Women's World Cup, so it wouldn't be fair to have high expectations from them, but with Shaw's goal scoring ability, they might be able to sneak out of the group stages and advance into the Round of 16.

Sam Kerr, Australia

A top goalscorer and one of the most decorated player in Australia's history. This is going to be her fourth World Cup, second as a captain, and with a talented Australian side, she would want to atleast compete well. She has been a prolific goalscorer for the West London side, Chelsea.

She made her debut for Australia at the age of 15 and now she's the top goalscorer for the Aussies. Australia's World Cup campaign will be dependent on Kerr's performances. One thing that Kerr guarantees is that she's gonna score goals irrespective of the circumstances which makes her one of the players to watch out for at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

Marta, Brazil

The 37-year-old veteran is set to play her 6th World Cup. She's the highest scoring player in the history of international football. With scoring 17 goals for her country in the World Cups she became  the player with the most no. Of World Cup goals but she's yet to win one.

This is probably gonna be her last chance to lift the trophy before taking up retirement. Brazil has participated in every edition of the World Cup but has never won one, so this is probably Brazil's best chance of winning the World Cup too with the team they've got. After the disappointment of the last two World Cup campaigns, they will be looking to hit back, and without Marta being able to perform, it's not possible.

Alexia Putellas, Spain

Alexia Putellas is arguably the best player in the world right now. She has won the Ballon d'Or on two different occasions in consecutive fashion and has also won every possible award she could win as an European player by 2022. She has been a piller for Barcelona and will like to contribute well for the national team too this time around.

Putellas missed the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 due to her ACL injury and was out for the majority of the 2023 season so it's not gonna be easy for her to get back in the game with the same intensity but she's gonna have to try. The Spanish football team has made some progress in the last few years and without Alexa Putellas it would've happened. Hence, it's gonna be very interesting how well Putellas's come back story is gonna be written that's why she's on the list of players to watch out for.
