In the latest Premier League news, Wolverhampton clinched all 3 points against Leicester City in a 2-1 thriller. With this win, Bruno Lage's team is now 7th and in close proximity of both European competitions. Wolves currently have 40 points from 24 matches and are 2 points off the Europa League spot and 6 points off a Champions League qualification.
Both Wolves and Leicester City possess great attacking players and that's exactly how the game started. Early into the game, Leicester City got their first opportunity, just into the 3rd minute Tielemans got the perfect layoff ball at the edge of the box which he shot wide of the goal. However, minutes later it was Wolves on the attacking break with Dendoncker looking for Jimenez; the Leicester defender Ricardo Periera came into action to eliminate the threat. But that didn't stop the Wolves from coming back again just at the 9-minute mark, Raul Jimenez brilliantly set up Ruben Neves; Who made no mistake to give his side the early lead.
However, it wasn't enough to break Leicester City's team, just in the 14th-minute mark Tielemans pulled in another belter but Jose Sa was resilient enough to keep it at bay. Wolves again came back to action after brilliant footwork from Podence; who found Rayan Nouri but his shot was just a bit wide off the Leicester goal post. Finally, the equaliser came from the Foxes as Tielemans found Albrighton between the gaps; Who laid the ball in for Lookman to score from point-blank range in the 40th minute of the game.
The intense 2nd half
The next half started in quite a similar fashion, with attacks from both sides. Lookman in the 53rd minute took a brilliant solo attempt but his shot was not enough to dismantle Jose Sa. Moments after that Tielemans again got the better edge of the Wolves' defence yet he failed to hit the target. Moreover, just minutes later Wolves came back strongly and took the lead in the 66th minute of the game. Dendoncker beautifully set it up for Podence to take the long-range attempt; which found the bottom edge of the goal, beating Kasper Schmeichel. This particular win for the wolves has boosted their hopes and dreams and brought them closer to their Champions League dream.
