Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid by 5-3 after an epic battle in the Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Spanish Super Cup semi-final that lasted over two hours. Hermoso scored the first goal for Atletico Madrid but Rudiger and Mendy's goal gave Real Madrid the lead. However, Griezmann's record-breaking goal levelled things back before the half-time.

Rudiger's own goal in the 78th minute gave the lead to Atletico but Carvajal brought things back to level as the game went into the extra times. With, both teams looking a bit tired, it was Real Madrid who hold on to their nerve to get two last-minute goals. Savic with an own goal for Atletico and Brahim finished things off for Real with the final goal.

Post this semi-final win, Real Madrid qualified for their 19th Spanish Super Cup final and will face the winner of the Barcelona vs Osasuna second semi-final tomorrow.
