Stadio Olimpico is hosting the UEFA EURO 2020 quarter-final match between Ukraine vs England on 4th July 2021 from 12:30 am. Both the teams have faced each other only once before at such a major tournament. The match is definitely going to be thrilling and exciting as both the teams will give their everything to reach the semifinals of EURO 2020. It's been really long since England got the opportunity to reach the semifinals. The last time England reached the semi-final was in 1996 whereas Ukraine never had the chance to move to the semis before.

Ukraine vs England: Recent form of both teams:

Ukraine is the most aggressive side of the tournament. After struggling through the group stages, they put up a quite spectacular show in the "round of 16s". They might not be the favorites to win the quarter-finals but they are expected to be hard on England. Both the teams are on the sloppy side and are off the form. But with the amount of individual talent, England might overcome Ukraine to reach the Semis in Wembley.

Ukaine's recent form in all competitions: W-L-W-L-W

England National team is by far the most talented team in the tournament. With the young talent of Bokayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Phil Phoden, England is the most valuable team in the tournament with a combined squad market value of 1.6 billion. Even after having such a high talented squad, Gareth Southgate's side was unable to put on a decent show. Since the Semifinals and the Final are scheduled to take place in Wembley, England. England is the favorite to win the tournament with the home supporters. The Golden Generation era of England has started.

Ukraine vs England: team news, head to head record and Probable starting xi

Ukraine:

Artem Besedin got injured severely in the knee in the game against Sweden. Along with him, Denys Popov is not a part of the squad as well. Also, the presence of Andriy Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Zubkov is uncertain. Ukraine might have won the previous matches but their impression is not long-lasting. England's last performance against Germany was great so Ukraine needs to show some extraordinary performance on the field to reach the semifinals.

Ukraine's possible starting lineup:

Georgi Bushchan, Illia Zabarnyi, Serhii Kryvtsov, Mykola Matvienko, Oleksandr Karavaev, Mykola Shaparenko, Taras Stepanenko, Serhiy Sydorchuk, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Artem Dovbyk, Roman Yaremchuk

England:

England is a very strong and skillful team in the tournament. They are a bit out of form but they will surely overcome everything and give their best to reach the semifinals tomorrow. The good news for the team is that not a single player is suspended from the next match. Their last match against the 2014 World Cup winner was great and won the match to reach the quarter-finals.

England's possible starting lineup:

Jordan Pickford, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Kalvin Phillips, Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Jack Grealish

Head to Head:

Ukraine and England have not faced each other many times before. Out of only 7 times played against each other, England won 4 times and Ukraine managed to win only 1 time. Rest of the 2 matches ended in a draw.

England vs Ukraine: Saka and Kane scores to give Three Lions a 2-0 victory

Saka's goal helped the Three Lions maintain their winning start to Euro qualifying match with a 2-0 victory in England vs Ukraine.

Mar 26, 2023, 7:49 PM2 min read

Bukayo Saka's sensational long-range goal helped the Three Lions maintain their winning start to European Championship qualifying match with a 2-0 victory in England vs Ukraine.

Kane was presented with a Golden Boot ahead of kick-off to commemorate his record-breaking goal against Italy and he looked determined to add to his tally from the start at Wembley.

Saka's stunning effort, curled into the top corner from 25 yards out in the first half, came shortly after he had set up Harry Kane for a close-range opener to follow up his record-breaking 54th international goal in Thursday's 2-1 win against Italy in Naples.

The game featured a powerful show of solidarity before kick-off, with the two sets of players posing behind a Ukrainian flag emblazoned with the word "peace" in response to Russia's invasion of the country, but on the pitch it was a one-sided affair.

England were unable to extend their lead in the second half but they controlled the game comfortably, with Gareth Southgate, who had already handed a first England start to Leicester's James Maddison, giving Brentford striker Ivan Toney a debut from the bench.

Then, Grealish's curling effort forced a sprawling save from the Ukraine goalkeeper as Trubin once again frustrated the home side.

It mattered little in the end, though, with England fans, and those of Ukraine, applauding their sides' efforts after the final whistle.

Conor Gallagher and Jack Grealish, also substitutes, missed England's best chances in the closing stages, shooting too close to Anatoliy Trubin, but the two-goal cushion proved sufficient to keep the Three Lions top of Group C with six points from six.

Zimbabwe:

Zimbabwe is almost out of the knockout race with only three points in four games. If they manages a win here then they will finish with five points and to qualify they have to wait for South Africa and Pakistan to lose their respective games. However, the tournament was a total ups and downs for the Zimbabwe side. After topping the first round in group B, they looked impressive. But, however except the one win against Pakistan, they didn't able to win in the rest two games - one got washed out.

For the Bangladesh side, it's a great chance for them to keep their momentum here at Adelaide to stay alive in the knockout race. Like India, the tigers have also collected four points in three games and are just behind India. However, the main concern for the side is their negative net run rate which is affecting their position in the points table. The skipper of the team Shakib is still finding his form in the ongoing mega event while the rest are doing well in their respective duties. Can Bangladesh keep its momentum and give a tough challenge to the Men in Blue?

But, however, rain affected the next game as they lost their winning momentum. Stoinis was the star performer in their second encounter with the Super 12. Can they pull off a win here at the Gabba?
