When Adonis Lattimore won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state wrestling championship, he accomplished what many thought to be impossible. The senior wrestler from Landstown (Va.) High School was born without legs and with one finger in one hand. However, he's now a champ.
In Lattimore's eyes, it was always within reach, even if it seemed unattainable to others. He commenced wrestling in the second grade and has finally achieved something he had promised himself he would achieve. Lattimore had a fantastic season, finishing with a 32-7 record. It was his first trip to the state final; he qualified for smaller tournaments as a freshman, missed regionals as a sophomore, and saw the state wrestling tournament postponed due to COVID-19 the previous year.

After his glorious win, Adonis Lattimore shared some inspirational words. According to him, "Really if you work hard, you can do anything, even win a state championship without legs. I've been dreaming of this since I knew what it was, and to finally have it happen is just â I don't know how to explain it."

Adonis Lattimore's life hasn't been easy, but he's made the best of it and is an influence to many. He was born without a right leg, and his left leg stops at his thigh, and one of his hands has only one finger. It would be enough for many people to give up on life.
