The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday appointed former Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals official Raghuram Iyer as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Despite repeated reminders from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), no one was appointed to the post of CEO for a year. The IOA said that Iyer has been appointed as CEO following the selection process conducted by the nomination committee.
"The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Raghuram lyer as the Chief Executive Officer following a meticulous selection process conducted by the Nomination Committee." the IOA said in a statement.
"We believe that Raghuram lyer brings a unique combination of leadership, strategic vision and a deep understanding of the sports landscape. His appointment is a significant step toward the continued growth and success of Indian sports on the global stage," IOA added.
Iyer has also been associated with IPL
The appointment to the post of CEO of the IOA was pending for a long time. In Iyer, the association has got a professional who has a lot of experience in sports. Along with IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, he has also served the teams of Lucknow Super Giants and Rising Super Giants Pune.
Moreover, Iyer has also served as CEO to ATK Mohun Bagan and RPSG Mavericks in the Indian Super League. According to the information, this step has been taken because India also wishes to host the Olympic Games in the coming years.
