Manika Batra Asian Cup TT Bronze: Mother Sushma Batra describes India's golden girl's 'go-getter' mindset 

Manika Batra set a new benchmark at the recently concluded Asian Cup 2022. She added a historic bronze to her array of medals won at the Asian Games, South Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. But her recent success remains special as India's top women paddler became the first female to clinch a podium finish at the continental event. 

The medal her a significant boost in the run up to the Paris 2024. And at 27, Batra is still to reach her peak. However, her mother Sushma Batra has seen her growth since her childhood, and describes her as a go-getter.

Even though her mother admitted that the premier Indian paddler is a 'soft-child' but she remains one of the fiercest competitors on the table. 

"She works really hard and has always been focused since childhood. She has always had this mindset of achieving her goals since childhood. We have also worked behind her. She is a soft child," her mother Sushma told sportzpoint.com.

The Delhi paddler overcame her bronze medal match opponent and World No. 6 Hina Hayata of Japan. And since then her mother has been getting numerous call to shower blessings on her daughter. 

"No words. There have been countless blessings showered on her and I feel really good about her achievement".

Her mother, meanwhile, revealed that Manika is not at all superstitious but she chants throughout her matches whenever she plays. 

"Manika was confident before the match. Every time before her match she calls me to inform me that she is going for the match."

"I'm always chanting continuously when she is at her match."

Incidentally, the breakaway performance also helped her achieve the career-best ranking as she is placed at the 39th spot now. It was the only third medal at the Asian Cup after Chetan Baboor's in 1997 and bronze in 2000,
