Former world number one Divyansh Singh Panwar registered victory in the men’s 10m air rifle event on the second day of the ongoing National Selection Trials Rifle and Pistol at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy Range in Bhopal, on Friday.

Tokyo Olympian Divyansh Singh Panwar was in fine form. He shot a score of 636.3 in the men’s 10m air rifle T4 qualification round. Divyansh beat China’s Sheng Lihao’s qualification score of 635.4 (currently the world record) at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Bhopal last month. Apart from the qualification, Divyansh also topped the 25-shot ranking round. After that he won the bonus point by defeating Surya Pratap Singh Banshtu 16-12 in the gold medal match.

At the same time, Punjab’s Sift Kaur Samra, who won her first ISSF medal, a bronze, at the Bhopal World Cup, defeating state-mate and Olympian Anjum Moudgil 16-4 in the women’s T4 50m rifle 3 positions (3P). While another seasoned Olympian Tejaswini Sawant finished third at the National Selection Trials.

In the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (RFP), India’s international shooter Vijayveer Sidhu gave Punjab another win. He defeated Adarsh Singh 30-24 in the National Selection Trials medal match. While Olympic silver medalist Vijay Kumar finished third with a score of 17.

Meanwhile, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka and Ganemat Sekhon won the men’s and women’s skeet trials respectively at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range (DKSSR) in New Delhi. Seasoned skeet shooter, Anant won the men’s skeet trial with 39 hits in the final. Overnight leader Punjab’s Gurjoat Singh Khangura of Punjab was second with 37 hits. While Olympian Angad Bajwa was third with 17 hits.

In women’s skeet, Ganemat Sekhon established her dominance as India’s number one female skeet shooter with a comfortable win. She shot 118 in qualification to finish second behind Parinaaz Dhaliwal, who topped the round with a score of 119. After that, Ganemat won the semifinals with 29 hits and the final with 37 hits.

In the junior category, Abhinav Shaw of West Bengal won gold in men’s 10m air rifle. While Nikita Kundu of Haryana won the women’s 3p junior event, and Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu won the junior men’s 25m event.
