2016 Rio Olympics bronze medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik has challenged the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. She challenges Brij Bhushan to undergo a narco test and prove himself innocent.

Sakshi Malik said that WFI chief Brij Bhushan should undergo lie detector narco test if he is sure of his innocence following the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him by seven wrestlers. The protesting wrestlers also said that if Brij Bhushan was still involved in the working of the WFI, they would oppose the holding of the competitions.

"Those people speaking in favour of the WFI chief and saying that we are lying, I would say that Brij Bhushan should undergo a Narco Test under Supreme Court… and also the seven women wrestlers (who have alleged sexual harassment)." Sakshi Malik said in the press conference.

"I would request the womenfolk in the country to support us just like they did in the Nirbhaya case. Express solidarity with us because we are also fighting for the cause of women. If we win this fight, we would have sent a strong message, but if we lose we would go back 50 years." Sakshi Malik added.

Moreover, the wrestlers also decided to don black armbands on Thursday to protest against the slow process of investigation against Brij Bhushan. The wrestlers sitting on the dharna are demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan on charges of sexual harassment and intimidation of seven female wrestlers, including a minor.

The Delhi Police had registered two FIRs against the WFI President on 28 April. However, the investigation is still running on process. The Supreme Court had also reprimanded the Delhi Police for this. Earlier on Monday, there were reports that the wrestlers, who were on strike, have started practicing for the tournaments after 15 days. Wrestlers like Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat had practiced on Monday. These wrestlers are preparing for the trials for the Asian Games. At the same time, the ad-hoc panel of IOA has decided to conduct the trial from May 17.

Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu has been eliminated from the Indonesia Open 2025 badminton tournament after losing in the round of 16. She was defeated badly by Thailand's Pornpawee Chochuwong in the pre-quarterfinals on Thursday.

Sindhu shows tremendous fight in first two games

PV Sindhu started the match brilliantly. She won the first game 22-20. She did not give any chance to the opponent to recover in this game. Pornpawee Chochuwong had no answer to Sindhu's aggressive returns as the score read 10-16 in favour in the first game. However, the tables turned completely in the second game.

Where Sindhu looked set to lose the first game, she pulled it right back in to clinch it, as the score read 22-20. After winning the first game, where Sindhu hoped to capitalise, Chochuwong was quick to turn it around, dominating Sindhu in the game, winning it by 21-10; furthermore, she went on to win the third game by 21-18, as Sindhu was eliminated from the Indonesia Open 2025 badminton tournament.

Satwik-Chirag enter quarterfinals

On the other hand, Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty came back from a game down to notch up a win to enter the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open 2025.

Satwik-Chirag beat Denmark’s Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Sogaard 16-21, 21-18, 22-20 in a match lasting one hour and eight minutes in the BWF Super 1000 tournament.

Treesa-Gayatri lost

The women’s doubles duo Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also lost 13-21, 22-24 to Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto of Japan in the round of 16 stage.

In mixed doubles, Sathish Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath exited after a straight-game loss against Thailand’s Dechapol Puavarankuroh and Supissara Paewsampran. The scoreline read 21-7, 21-12 in favour of the Thai shuttlers, who wrapped up the match in just 25 minutes.

The England and Wales Cricket Board on Thursday announced a 14-member squad for the first Test of the five-match series against India. The ENG vs IND five-match Test series is starting from June 20. The first match will be played at Headingley on June 20, 2025.

Overton replaces Atkinson

Fast bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton has returned. He has been included in the team in place of injured Gus Atkinson. Jamie has returned after the match against New Zealand in June 2022.

Atkinson was unavailable for selection due to a right hamstring injury suffered during the Test against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge.

Carse, Woakes included in the squad

Fast bowlers Brydon Carse, Jacob Bethell and Chris Woakes have also been named in the squad, who last played during the New Zealand Test tour in December. The India A side are already in the United Kingdom, playing warm-up games against England Lions.

Woakes, known for his effectiveness in home conditions, especially at Lord’s, last featured prominently in 2018 against India, where he claimed four wickets and smashed an unbeaten 137.

Young spinner Shoaib Bashir, who starred with nine wickets against Zimbabwe, retains his spot as the lone specialist spinner. IPL winner Jacob Bethell and seamer Sam Cook, both of whom impressed recently, have also earned call-ups.

Ben Stokes to lead the team

England will field a significantly altered team compared to the last time they faced India in early 2024. James Anderson has since retired, while Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes and Ollie Robinson are the other notable absentees from the squad.

Ben Stokes, who returned from a hamstring injury in that Zimbabwe Test, will lead England against India in a five-match series that marks the start of both teams’ campaigns in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle.

Spain are in a run of an impressive 20-game unbeaten run across all competitions (W15, D5) and are looking to become the first team to retain the UEFA Nations League since the tournament began in 2018. 

They managed 16 points from a possible 18 points in the group stage. Then, they knocked out the Netherlands in the quarter-final in penalties after an exciting two-legged contest. 

But Luis de la Fuente's side will be without the current Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, who is still undergoing his recovery at Manchester City. Along with Rodri, Spain will also miss the services of Ferran Torres, who underwent surgery for appendicitis.

Real Betis captain Isco is in contention to make his senior Spain return since 2019. Meantime, Gavi will also be returning to the national side since 2013. Pau Cubarsi will also be returning to the squad after missing the previous international break through injury.

Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo and Nico Williams, along with Mikel Oyarzabal, will lead Spain's attack.

Team News: France

France, on the other hand, accumulated 13 points to finish top of League A Group 2. In the quarter-finals, they then made a huge comeback in the second leg to win from a 0-2 position against Croatia. 

Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele were the scorers for France that night before Mike Maignan saved a penalty kick to hand them a place in the semis.

Didier Deschamps will have Champions League player of the final, Desire Doue, and Champions League player of the season, Ousmane Dembele, at hand to go full throttle against Spain. However, in defence, he will miss Upamecano, William Saliba and Jules Kounde.  Benjamin Pavard and Malo Gusto will then fight to replace them, alongside Ibrahim Konate being an obvious choice for the left-back role. 

Kylian Mbappe, alongside Rayan Cherki, would be France's strikers' option for Deschamps.
