A bench headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud closed the hearing of the matter on Thursday. The Supreme Court noted that the Delhi Police has registered a case against Brij Bhushan in the matter. And the purpose of filing the petition in the matter has been fulfilled. The Supreme Court has given liberty to the petitioner that if he has any further complaint in this matter, he can approach the concerned Magistrate or the Delhi High Court.

"The purpose of the plea was registration of FIR which is now registered. Apart from registration of FIR this court had passed some other directions to ensure security to complainants. Police has indicated that proper security has been provided to minor complainants and due security has been provided to others. Having regard to the ambit of the case before us, we close the proceedings now." the Court ordered.

Meanwhile, senior Advocate Narendar Hooda appeared for the petitioner. He said that considering the conduct of the Delhi Police, the Supreme Court should monitor the matter. The police did not even take action until the Supreme Court intervened. But rejecting this argument, the Supreme Court said that the petitioner has the liberty to use whatever legal route he has. If he has any complaint, he can approach the lower court or the High Court.

The petitioner's counsel argued that either the apex court itself should monitor the case or the case should be monitored under the leadership of a retired justice. Once the Supreme Court settles the case, the police will drag its feet.

The Supreme Court mentioned in its order that the police have recorded the statement of the minor complainant on 29th April. The police have also recorded the statement of the other four complainants on 3rd May. The police will record their statements in front of the Magistrate under the CrPC section. The steps are being taken to register u/s 164. The order for the protection of the complainant minor has been made and protection has been given. After that, the SC closed the hearing.
