Choudhary has handled the responsibility of the Jharkhand Cricket Association for 10 years. He also held the post of Executive Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a long time. On Monday, the Jharkhand Cricket Association confirmed the news of his death.
Born in Gangtok, Amitabh Choudhary was an IPS officer. However, due to his love for cricket, he associated himself with 22 yards administratively. Although not only an administrative officer, he was also the team manager during the Indian team's tour of Zimbabwe in the 2005-06 season. It was during this series that Greg Chapell and Sourav Ganguly's rift came to light. That is why that series is still vivid in the minds of cricket lovers.
Amitabh Choudhary then took over as secretary of the Board when the Committee of Administration was formed within the BCCI. At that time, he had to deal with the issue of morale between the then-Indian captain Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble. Kumble resigned from the post of coach at that time due to his relationship with Kohli. Amitabh handled all those storms with a strong hand.
Not only this, Amitabh is largely responsible for making Ranchi the face of Jharkhand cricket. In recognition of this one side of the Ranchi Stadium was named after him. The cricket world is mourning the death of such a successful administrator.
