From the opening whistle, England quickly settled into a passing rhythm while controlling the majority of possession, and it paid off when Holly Hunt (7') scored a field goal with a powerful and well-placed shot from inside the D to give her team the lead. After that, the Indian Women's Hockey Team demonstrated their attacking intent in search of an equalizer. They repeatedly tested England's defense and even came close to scoring on multiple occasions, but were unable to find the back of the net as the first quarter ended with England leading 1-0.

Despite the relentless efforts from the Indian Women's Hockey Team, the England defenders held their ground firmly, denying them any clear scoring opportunities. In the second quarter, India team, led by captain Savita Punia, increased the frequency of their attacks in an attempt to level the score, forcing England's midfielders to make back passes and maintain possession. Interestingly, the strategy assisted England in neutralizing the Indian team's attack, allowing them to maintain their 1-0 lead at the half-time break.

The match's first breakthrough came in the 41' minute when Lalremsiami converted a penalty corner to help the Indian Women's Hockey Team get back into the game in the third quarter. Both India and England won multiple penalty corners in the dying minutes of the third quarter but both teams were unable to make the most of the opportunities as the third quarter ended with the score tied at 1-1.

With the win up for grabs in the final quarter, India looked the hungrier of the two sides and kept Heesh busy in the England goal. England, who beat Spain in their opening game on Tuesday, came back into the contest towards the end and turned the pressure right back on the Indian backline. All the attacking play, however, failed to yield a goal as the hockey match ended level at 1-1.

The Indian women's hockey team will play hosts Spain in the next 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament match on Thursday.
