Rohit Sharma provided India with a brilliant start once again after Bangladesh were restricted to a score of 256/8. The Indian captain was looking dangerous but he ended up falling in the 13th over on 48 off 40. Virat Kohli then came out swinging as he got two back-to-back no-balls. He took two runs off the first, hit a four off the second that was a free hit, and a six off the next free hit delivery. That pretty much gave him the early momentum to go on and complete the century.
Shubman Gill, meanwhile completed his first World Cup half century but lost his wicket on 53. Shreyas Iyer lost his wicket early also but Kl Rahul and Virat Kohli comfortably chase down the total under 41 overs. More importantly Kl Rahul played like a team player and helped Virat Kohli complete his 48th ODI Century.
There was a time in the match when Virat was not looking to score the century as India didn't have a lot of runs left to chase but Kl Rahul denied the singles and let Kohli complete his century. After the match, Rahul also confirmed that Virat was not happy with Rahul's decision but he deserved the century and that's why Rahul helped him.
During the chase, Virat also completed his 26000 International Runs. Not only just that but he became the fastest batsman to do it. His century was the 78th in total across all formats which is an incredible number. He also completed his 48th century in fewer innings than Sachin Tendulkar did. Here are the records that were broke by Virat Kohli during the match against Bangladesh.
