Spanish tennis ace Rafael Nadal has been honoured at a ceremony in Mallorca. He provided Sant Llorenc des Cardassar in October 2018 after torrential rain and flash flooding. It brutally devastated the town. The storms resulted in the death of 13 people and led to more than 200 people fleeing. This disaster ruined hundreds of homes and businesses. It was swamped with dirty water that reached levels of two metres.

Nadal spent hours helping volunteers to clean up the area. He opened up rooms at the Rafael Nadal Academy. He took help from Movistar for those who needed refuge.

Now, the 20-time major champion Rafael Nadal ended the 2021 season early due to a foot injury. He did not compete at the US Open. He contributed a lot to the flood victim Spanish Town.

The city council of Sant Llore gave him the title ‘adopted son’ in recognition of his support.
