Rohan Bopanna is the only Indian to remain in the US Open 2023 fray as Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni lost their respective opening-round matches in the men's doubles event. Bopanna also made it to the second round in US Open 2023 men's doubles. The Indo-Australian pair will face the Russian-Kazakh duo of Roman Safiullin and Andrey Golubev in the second round on Friday.

The first set remained tight, but Bopanna and Sutjiadi managed to get the deciding break at the crucial moment when Zvonareva was serving at 5-6. In the second set, Bopanna and Sutjiadi built on the momentum to break Mies twice. Though Sutjiadi's serve was also broken, they finished the match by getting the better of the Russian's serve again.

In the next round, Bopanna-Sutjiadi duo will play the winners of the match between fourth-seeded pair of Luisa Stefani of Brazil and British player Joe Salisbury, or the all-American duo of Taylor Townsend and Ben Shelton.

Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna is pairing up with Aldila Sutjiadi for the first time. Earlier, the 28-year-old Aldila Sutjiadi reached the mixed doubles semi-finals of the French Open and Wimbledon this season.
