Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz, who has come to the tournament as the top-seeded player, will be taking on Jeremy Chardy at Court no. 1. The Spaniard won the Queenโ€™s Cup recently, which was his first ever grass court title. But all the eyes will be on Andy Murray, as the British hero takes on another fellow Brit in Ryan Peniston. The two-time Wimbledon champion has expressed his feeling of comfort ahead of the tournament, and will be hoping to see through the first challenge.

In the womenโ€™s section, defending Womenโ€™s singles champion Elena Rybakina will also have her first tournament match on Today. Rybakina, who was termed as โ€˜best grass player in the worldโ€™ by Andy Roddick, is coming on the back of a few setbacks. She lost at the early rounds in Berlin, and then withdrew from Eastbourne due to a viral illness. It is to be seen how she holds up against Rogers, who will be aiming to cause an upset.

One significant change at Wimbledon this year will see the return of players from Russia and Belarus. They were banned by the All England Club a year earlier because of Russiaโ€™s invasion of Ukraine with the help of Belarus in February 2022.

Four Grand Slams are held every year in tennis. It starts with the Australian Open in January. This is followed by the French Open in May and June, and Wimbledon in July, which is played on grass courts. The US Open is held in August-September, which is the last Grand Slam of the year.
