Indian players have been showing amazing in athletics for some time now. Every day some star is achieving new heights. And now the name of Amlan Borgohain has also been added to such stars. Amlan has set a new national record in the 100 meters race. In just 10.25 seconds, he broke the six-year-old national record by measuring 100 meters.

The 24-year-old athlete from Assam has done this wonder in the Inter Railway Athletics Championship held in Rae Bareli. Earlier, this record was in the name of Amiya Kumar Malik of Odisha. He set a national record in the year of 2016 by clocking 10.26 seconds. Now Amlan Borgohain has broken that record by taking 0.1 second less than him.

Earlier in the 100 meters race, Amlan Borgohain's personal best was 10.34 seconds. Which he made in the National Open held in Warangal last year. Amlan has made a new record by improving his previous time of 0.9 seconds. Apart from this, the national record of 200m is also in his name. Which he made during the National Federation Cup held earlier this year. Amlan had covered the distance of 200 meters in a record 20.52 seconds.

"He ran very well in training two weeks ago. His posture looked the best I had ever seen. So last week I tested him over 100m

Through timing gates and he ran extremely well. So I knew the national record was under threat. But didn't want to say anything and jinx it,"
Amlan' coach Hillier said.

As a child, Amlan's dream was to become a footballer. He is a huge fan of superstar footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and Sunil Chhetri. However, his mother had asked him to quit football due to continuous injuries.

After leaving football, Amlan turned in to an athletics. During a tournament in the year 2019, James Hillier, the head coach of the Athletics High-Performance Center in Bhubaneswar, recognized his talent and included him in the training centre. Since then, under his supervision, Amalan has achieved this position by performing brilliantly.
