Neeraj has already informed the Indian Olympic Organization that he will not be able to compete at the Commonwealth Games. Rajeev Mehta, the Secretary General of the Indian Olympic Association said in a statement, "Neeraj Chopra will not take part in Commonwealth Games 2022. He is not fit as he got injured in the finals of the World Athletic Championships. He informed us about this."

The Olympic champion was suffering a groin injury during the final of the World Championships. After the final, he admitted that he had a hard time throwing the javelin. It was painful to run for him during the tournament. Neeraj said earlier that he will decide to play at the Commonwealth games 2022 only after consulting the doctors.

Neeraj's dismissal is a big blow for India. He was India's big hope for medal chances in the javelin throw. After winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics, he got silver at the World Championships. Neeraj won the silver by throwing the javelin at a distance of 88.13m.

The 24-year-old won gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also won gold in the Asian Games that year. Neeraj had a chance to add one more medal to that list. But unfortunately due to injury, he will not able to participate in the games in Birmingham this year. Neeraj's absence is definitely a big blow to India's medal-winning dreams.
