World No. 9 Prannoy didn't have to struggle much to see off local player Lin Yu-hsien 21-11 21-10 in just 26 minutes in the first round of the Taipei Open 2023 BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament. Third seed Prannoy, who won the Malaysia Masters Super 300 title last month, will next take on the winner of the first-round match between Chen Chi Ting and Tommy Sugiarto.

Prannoy and Lin started relatively even with both shuttlers staying level on the score till 10-10. From that point though, the Indian won 11 of the next 12 points, including nine in a row to go up 19-10 to claim the opening game. In the second game, Prannoy took a lead after being level at 2-2 and would not allow Lin to comeback into the match before sealing a spot in the second round.

Meanwhile, Kashyap, a former Commonwealth Games gold medallist, also made it to the next round of the Taipei Open 2023 with a comfortable 21-15 21-16 win over Germany's Samuel Hsiao. He will take on local player Su Li Yang in the pre-quarterfinals. It was also Kashyap's first win in the main draw of a Super 300 event on the tour this year.

There was also a win for Tanya Hemanth in the women's singles Round of 32. She beat Hungary's Agnes Korosi 21-7, 21-17. While Rohan Kapoor and N Sikki Reddy also booked a spot in the second round of the mixed doubles event. They achieved a 21-14, 21-17 win over compatriots Bokka Navaneeth and Priya Konjengbam.
