Women's Bengal Pro T20 League 2024: What happened in the game?
Dhara Gujjar won the toss and decided to field first on a sunny morning in Kolkata. Three quick wickets at the front proved the decision from the captain right. Sushmita Ganguly took the first two wickets to get the early momentum. Tithi Das and Aruna Burman were sent back to the pavilion by Ganguly, while Diya Nandi joined the party dismissing Ipsita Mondal within the first seven overs.
At 24/3, Adamas Howrah Warriors looked to bundle the opponent for paltry, but Lux Shyam Kolkata Royal Tigers captain Mita Paul and her deputy Mamata Kisku stood stall on the crease. It was their 101-run partnership for the third wicket in just 83 balls to take the first-inning score to 125/3. Sushmita Ganguly returned with the best bowling figure 20/2 for Adamas Howrah Warriors. Mita (57) and Mamata (53) remained unbeaten to challenge the Adamas Howrah Warriors batters in the second inning.
Captain Dhara Gujjar provided a quick start in the second inning, but her partner Shrabani Paul could not stay for long at the crease. At number three, Madhurima Prasad tried her best to support Dhara, but she perished after 14 from 16 balls.
Ananya Halder's 8th over of the match proved lethal for them as she picked up Dhara Gujjar and Parama Mondal in a single over. But, as the game was going away from Adamas, two youngsters put their hands up to put up a fight for the team.
Prativa Mandi, surely a future Bengal prospect, first took her time and then found her rhythm to take the game close. Along with her, Puja Rajak kept finding boundaries to show her the exact support for a nail-bite.
19 runs in the 16th over dropped the asking rate to run-a-ball, but Puja Rajak's (28 from 26 balls) dismissal in the next over made the match more exciting.
However, post-Mandi's dismissal (24 from 25 balls) in the 19th over meant Adamas Howrah Warriors would need 10 runs in the final over to get the win.
