On day 1 of the India versus Bangladesh series, the veteran spinner Ravichndran Ashwin broke Anil Kumble's record, becoming India's most successful bowler in the Asian conditions. At the Kanpur Greenland Park stadium, Ashwin took Bangladesh's Najmul Hossain Shanto right after coming back from lunch. With this, his tally rose to 420 wickets.

Earlier it was Anil Kumble at the second spot with 419 wickets. Now that he comes to the third, Ashwin only has the Sri Lankan maestro Muttiah Muralitharan ahead of him with 612 wickets.
