The India vs Bangladesh first test series has seen Ravichandran Aswing creating multiple records for his team. This included overtaking Walsh in ranking and touching Warne's record too.

The man, who took India to a decent score in the first innings, alongside Ravindra Jadeja is Ravichandran Ashwin. Not only that he single-handedly broke the Bangladeshi line up up with his bowling skills. In the India vs Bangladesh first test match, Ashwin not only smashed his fastest test ton, but broke records too.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in the first test match, India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs. Ashwin, apart from scoring a century, took a six-wicket haul giving away 88 runs in the fourth innings. this made Bangladesh shatter for 234 runs. 

The 38-year-old Ashwin secured 37th five-fer in 101 Tests. Right now he is having the most 5 wicket haul for India. Adding to this, he is equalling the legendary Shane Warne's haul count.

Ashwin surpassed Kumble

Ravichandran Ashwin is the Indian with the most wickets in the fourth innings. Earlier, Anil Kumble topped the list with 94 wickets. Ashwin surpassed him with  99 wickets and counting.

With 522  wickets, Ashwin climbed up to the 8th rank in the highest wicket takers' list. HE thus leaves behind the West India legend Courtney Walsh (519 wickets). Amongst the Indians, Ashwin just has Kumble at the fourth with 619 wickets.

"King" at the Chepauk

Ashwin gets more motivation when it comes to showcasing his abilities, at his home ground. In the last three test matches he played at Chepauk, he went wicketless. In 2016 December, he bowled 44 overs just to give away 151 runs, taking 1 wicket.

In 2021 February, India lost to England in the first test, but Ash took a total of 9 wickets. Chennai hosted the second test, where Ashwin became the man of the match. He took a total of 8 heads and smashed a ton with the bat.

The batting record too, is decent for Ashwin. He scored 229 runs there, at an average of 38.16. He has a half century and one century to his name, on this field.

In 2016 December, this batting darkhorse had made a contribution of 67 runs in 149 balls in the first innings against England, at Chennai.  IN the 2021 test, his first innings had a score of 31. However, he compiled a topnotch 106 knock in the second innings.
