India will begin their Asia Cup 2022 journey on August 28 against their arch-rivals Pakistan in UAE. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will miss the entire tournament owing to different injuries.

Meanwhile, Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi had already been ruled out of the tournament with an injury. The official confirmation about Rahul Dravid’s unavailability will be announced soon by BCCI.

In his absence, VVS Laxman may take the charge of the Indian team. But the Indian team has done well under the tutelage of interim coach VVS Laxman. Laxman guided a relatively young Indian team to an impressive clean sweep in the three-match ODI series against hosts Zimbabwe.

The current National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief was also in charge of the national team on their tour of Ireland this year and will look to extend his winning run with the team in the Asia Cup opener against arch-rivals Pakistan on the 28th of August.
