Bangladesh Cricket News: Shohidul Islam suspended for 10 months

In the latest Bangladesh cricket news, Shohidul Islam received a 10-month ban from the ICC due to breaching Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code. The pacer will be able to play from 28 March 2023.

Shohidul Islam had taken Clomifene, a prohibited substance under WADA's list. His urine sample had the substance which is prohibited during the game and off the game as well. The 27-year-old pacer accepted his offence and will go through the suspense period.

The young pacer has just played one T20I for the Bangladesh tigers. He had taken the lone wicket of Mohammed Rizwan against Pakistan in that match. Since then he has toured with the Bangladesh team but has not had the opportunity to play for his national side.

Currently, the pacer was with the Bangladesh cricket team in the West Indies team but missed the tour due to a side strain.

"Shohidul had inadvertently ingested the prohibited substance in the form of a medicine that he had been legitimately prescribed for therapeutic purposes," ICC confirmed that over the official statement. However, they have also confirmed that the Bangladeshi pacer had no intention to enhance his performance through that substance.
