Meanwhile, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, who was commentating during the match, expressed his views on the players moving forward despite past disagreements in the IPL. He stressed the importance of leaving on-field fights on the field and not taking it off the field.

Gautam Gambhir also had a message for the fans and spectators, "I would also want to tell the crowd and fans that any player in the ground or on social media, shouldn't be trolled or made fun of. You are passionate when you represent your team. It was a huge thing for Naveen to play in IPL for the first time coming from Afghanistan,"

Talking about the match, Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Their captain Shahidi played an important innings by scoring 80 runs. Afghanistan scored a total of 272 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Rohit Sharma's record breaking century was the center of attraction for India chasing Afghanistan's target. Rohit Sharma scored 131 runs in just 84 balls and led India to victory in 35 overs with 8 wickets remaining.
