Team News

Chennai Super Kings

Fast bowler Deepak Chahar didn't feature in the last match too. Pathirana and Mustafizur both are unavailable. Simarjeet Singh's debut was exceptional but he had a poor outing against Gujarat. Ravindra Jadeja also conceded lots of runs in his 2-over spell. Shardul Thakur and Tushar Deshpande bowled beautifully and only conceded 58 runs in their 8-over spells. But, Santner and Mitchell were very poor in their spells.

Rahane and Ravindra opened in the previous game and both failed to contribute with runs. Skipper Ruturaj has impressed with his calm and composed in batting and captaincy so far this season but he also failed to score runs in the previous game. Although he is the top run scorer of Chennai this season.

Shivam Dube got out for ducks in the previous two games before the GT game. He improved in the game against GT but he couldn't do much too. Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali played brilliant innings but that was not enough for CSK to win the game. Chennai haven't played consistent cricket this season which has been the biggest issue.

MS Dhoni scored runs but he couldn't chase down the total. He has played some important knocks this season and has been one of the most important batters for CSK at lower down the order.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals are sitting at the second spot of the points table and they are looking like one of the favorites to lift the title this season. They are coming after two straight losses but will be desperate to get back to the winning path. Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal have scored some valuable runs at the top for their side which have given the middle-order batters more freedom. But they haven't been so consistent which has created some problems too which is normal in T20s.

Sanju Samson has been the most crucial player for Rajasthan in the top order, scoring 471 runs in 11 matches. Riyan Parag is set to bat at no 4 and he has been brilliant for the side. Shubham Dubey played a little cameo in the last game and will try to replicate the same against CSK too.

Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma are highly expected to feature as the leading pace bowlers with Avesh Khan bowling the death overs. But, they proved to be very expensive in the last game. Avesh needs to work on his economy and his performances have been hot and cold. Yuzvendra Chahal also conceded lots of runs in his spell which has been the case with him this season.

Ashwin picked up three wickets in the last game and was very good in his 4-over spell. He was the only positive in RR's bowling unit and will try to replicate the same against his ex-franchise.
