IPL has emerged 16 seasons now starting from 2008 where we have seen many unseen talents and watched many records. We have seen the magnificent century of Brendon McCullum in the opening game of IPL history. The top four teams qualified for the playoffs every season. Also the team with the lowest points remains in the last position of the points table. Here in this post we will the teams which finish in the last position of the points table in each IPL season.

Deccan Chargers - 2008

There are 8 teams played in the season of IPL 2008. Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, and Deccan Chargers are the 8 teams that participated in the tournament. Among them, Rajasthan Royals led by legendary Shane Warne, was the top team with 11 wins out of the 14 games they played. Deccan Chargers was the last team of IPL 2008 with just 2 wins out of the 14 games they played.

Kolkata Knight Riders - 2009

IPL have not played in India in this season, due to the elections and The tournament was hosted by South Africa. The same teams who played in IPL 2008 took part in the next season also. This season, Delhi Capitals was the top team in the group stage with 10 wins out of 14 games they played. But amazingly, the Deccan Chargers who finished as the last team of the 2008 season, have won the IPL 2009 title. Kolkata Knight Riders were the last team of IPL 2009 with 3 wins out of 14 games.

Punjab Kings - 2010

The same 8 teams participated in IPL 2010. Here in this season Mumbai Indians was the top team with 10 wins out of 14 games. While is this season Punjab was the last team with 4 wins in the group stage out of 14 games they played.

Delhi Capitals - 2011

In IPL 2011, two more teams have been participated in the tournament along with the 8 teams of the previous season. Those two new teams were Kochi Tuskers Kerala & Pune Warriors India. Each team has played 14 matches in the group stage. RCB was at the top of the points table with 9 wins out of 14 group stage matches whereas Delhi Capitals was the last team with 4 wins.

Pune Warriors India - 2012

In this season total 9 teams participated in the tournament and Kochi Tuskers Kerala haven't participated in this season. Total 16 matches have been played in IPL 2012. Delhi Capitals was on the top of the points table with 11 wins out of 16 games. Pune Warriors India was the last team in IPL 2012. They have won 4 games out of 16 in the group league.

Delhi Capitals - 2013

The same 9 teams have been participated in this season of IPL. Deccan Chargers haven't participated in this season and Sunrisers Hyderabad has joined in the same season. Like the previous season, here in this season total 16 games have been played. Chennai Super Kings was the top team in this season with 11 wins out of 16 group stage matches. Delhi Capitals was the last team with 3 wins in the group stage games of IPL 2013.

Delhi Capitals - 2014

The first half of the 2014 edition of IPL was played in UAE due to election. In the season of 2014, total 8 teams participated in the tournament. Pune Warriors India haven't participated in this season of IPL. In this season, total 14 games have been played in the group stage. Punjab Kings was the top team of IPL 2014 with 11 wins out of 14 games in the group stage. Delhi Capitals again finished at the bottom of the points table with just 2 wins in 14 games.

Punjab Kings - 2015

The same teams like the previous season has participated in IPL 2015. CSK was in top of the list with 18 points in the group stage out of 14 games they have played. Punjab who was in the top of the list with 11 wins in the previous season, finished the season as the last team. They won 3 games out of 14 they played in IPL 2015.

Punjab Kings - 2016

In this season, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals was banned and didn't participate. Including two new teams, Gujarat Lions & Rising Pune Supergiants, total 8 teams participated in this season. Like previous season, a total of 14 games were played in the group stage. Gujarat Lions finished at the top of the points table with 9 wins out of 14 matches. Punjab was the second team after Delhi who finished at the bottom of the points table with 4 wins out of 14 games.

Royals Challengers Bangalore - 2017

The same teams have been participated in the season of IPL 2017. Mumbai Indians was the top team in this season with 10 wins out of 14 group stage matches. RCB who was the runners up of the IPL 2016 season has finished this season in the bottom of the points table. Out of 14 group stage games, RCB won just 3 games.

Delhi Capitals - 2018

In IPL 2018, CSK & Rajasthan had participated after their two years ban. In this season Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions haven't participated. Total 8 teams have played in this season and 14 group stage games were played. Sunrisers Hyderabad has finished at the top of the points table with 9 wins. Delhi Capitals once more finished at the bottom of the table with 5 wins out of 14 games.

Royals Challengers Bangalore - 2019

Here in IPL 2019, the same 8 teams of the previous season has been participated. Mumbai Indians once more was at the top of the points table in this season with 9 wins out of 14 games they played. After 2017 season, RCB once more finished at the bottom of the points table with 5 wins of their group stage games.

Rajasthan Royals - 2020

This year was massively impacted due to Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown. IPL 2020 was played in UAE in september with precautions. This year the same eight teams have been participated and among them Mumbai Indians were in the top of the list. Mumbai won 9 out of 14 group league matches. Rajasthan finished the year being the bottom of the points table with 6 wins out of 14 games.

Sunrisers Hyderabad - 2021

The IPL 2021 was also impacted by Covid-19 as many players were ruled out from the tournament due to be affected by the virus. The tournament started in India but didn't complete due to the covid impact and the remaining part of IPL was played in UAE. The same teams participated in the tournament where Delhi Capitals were in top of the points table with 10 wins out of 14 games in group stage. Sunrisers Hyderabad finished the season at the bottom with just 3 wins in their group stage games.

Mumbai Indians - 2022

In this year of IPL, two new teams have been included, which are Gujarat Giants & Lucknow Super Giants. A total of 10 teams have been participated in the 2022 edition whereas 14 matches were played in the group stage. Gujarat Titans were in the top of the points table with 10 wins in the group league matches whereas Mumbai Indians have finished at the bottom of the points table with just 4 wins out of 14 games.

Sunrisers Hyderabad - 2023

The same 10 teams participate in 2023 IPL and 14 matches were played in the group stage. Gujarat Titans were the table toppers in back to back season with 10 wins and Sunrisers Hyderabad finished the season at the bottom of the table. SRH won 4 out of 14 group stage matches in IPL 2023.
