After the previous event in 2017, the tournament is set to be held again in Pakistan in 2025. England became the latest team to qualify for the Champions League 2025, scheduled to be held in Pakistan, after a 93-run win over Pakistan at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The four teams qualified for the semifinals of the 2023 World Cup — India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand qualified for the Champions Trophy along with host Pakistan and sixth-placed Afghanistan.
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will feature a total of 8 teams only. The tournament will be played in the ODI format. Bangladesh has not yet qualified for the Champions Trophy, as a win over India would push the Netherlands above them. The Netherlands will face India in their last group game of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. They have to win that game on Sunday to knock Bangladesh out of eighth place.
Full-member nations like West Indies and Zimbabwe are automatically out of the race as they failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. Sri Lanka are out of the Champions Trophy 2025 too as ICC has suspended Sri Lankan cricket board and additionally they have failed to perform in the ongoing World Cup. They finished on the 9th spot with only 2 victories out of their nine group games.
