SRH broke the record for the highest run in an inning by any IPL team against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.

Many records were made in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) match of the IPL 2024. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, SRH made the highest score in the history of IPL. They broke the 11-year-old record of Royal Challengers Bangalore's 263 in IPL 2013. Apart from that, SRH also made the fourth-highest score in the history of T20 cricket. Highest Score by Team in T20s

Nepal's men's cricket team scored 314/3 in 20 overs during their match against Mongolia at the Asian Games cricket tournament in Hangzhou, China. This is the highest score by a team in T20 history. Nepal also smashed 26 sixes in their innings which is the most by a team in a single T20I inning. 

Along with this, Nepal’s batter Dipendra Singh Airee surpassed Yuvraj Singh in this match by breaking the record of the fastest T20I half-century. He broke Yurvaj's 12-ball fifty record while smashing his fifty by 9 deliveries only. Nepal's Kushal Malla also scored the fastest T20I hundred in just 34 deliveries, surpassing India captain Rohit Sharma and South Africa's star batter David Miller. 

2. Afghanistan vs Ireland (2019) | 278/3

Highest Score by Team in T20s

Afghanistan smashed a total of 278/3 runs against Ireland in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. This is the second highest score by a team in T20s. Afghan batter Hazratullah Zazai led the charge with 162 runs off just 62 balls, including 16 sixes which is the second-highest individual score in T20Is. Hazratullah Zazai and Osman Ghani also established the highest T20I partnership with a 236-run stand.

3. Czech Republic vs Turkey (2019) | 278/4

Highest Score by Team in T20s

Czech Republic matched the record of Afghanistan by scoring 278/4 runs in their 20 overs against Turkey in the Continental Cup on August 30, 2019, owing to a century by Sudesh Wickramasekara and a half-century by Sumit Pokriyal. The Czech Republic also dismissed Turkey by 21 runs. Their 257-run win is the highest margin of victory (in terms of runs). Czech surpassed the record of Romania’s 173-run victory over Turkey in the same tournament.

4. SRH v MI (2024*) | 277/3

Highest Score by Team in T20s

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 277 runs for three wickets against Mumbai Indians, which is the highest score in IPL history and the fourth-highest score by a Team in T20s. Sunrisers' inning was so fast that the team scored 148 runs in the first 10 overs. This was the highest score made by any team in 10 overs in IPL. Earlier, Punjab Kings had scored 131 runs in the first 10 overs in 2014 and Mumbai Indians in 2021.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, batting first, scored 277 runs in 20 overs. In response, Mumbai scored 246 runs in 20 overs. If the runs of both the innings are added, the total was 523 runs. This was the first time in IPL history that the total crossed 500.

He scored this in May 2002 against the West Indies and helped India secure a draw on a flat pitch.

A new chapter: KKR and the title glory (2022-2024)

Shreyas Iyer entered the 2022 mega auction and was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹12.25 crore, and was immediately appointed as the new captain.

His first year with KKR concluded with a 7th position finish in the points table, and him scoring 401 runs in 14 matches total.

Missing a season (2023)

Iyer was ruled out entirely of IPL 2023 due to his back injury and Nitish Rana stepped in as the captain for KKR during his absence. He eventually recovered and made a grand comeback in the next season.

The Champion season: Leading KKR to their 3rd IPL title

The 2024 IPL season under Iyer's captaincy was nothing short of a fairy tale for KKR, and they got the ending they deserved. They dominated the game throughout the tournament and finished at the top of the points table.

After breaking the 11-year drought of qualifying for playoffs, the team also reached their first final since 2014. Shreyas Iyer single-handedly made this possible with his match-winning knock of 87* off 41 balls in the Qualifier 2. He also became the captain with most 50+ scores in IPL playoffs.

Punjab put up an extremely tough fight for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final, ultimately losing by just 6 runs. Iyer's impact was undeniable for PBKS, who made this season a memorable one for them.
