The Ashes 2023: England vs Australia 4th Test Match Preview, Possible Lineups, Pitch Report, and Dream XI Team Prediction

The fourth test of the oldest rivalry in cricket is all set to begin at the iconic Old Trafford, Greater Manchester from July 19. The third match of the Ashes 2023 was much hyped and interesting. It went through to the very last day. Australia won the first two Tests and were on the verge of retaining the Ashes before England bounced back to win the third Test to keep the series alive. It was another cracker of a contest at Headingley in Leeds.

Mitchell Marsh smashed a brilliant century for Australia. Ben Stokes led from the front to help England get closer to Australia's first-inning total of 263. The Aussies set a target of 251 for the hosts. Harry Brook played an impressive knock of 75 to help England chase down the total with three wickets in hand. Mitchell Starc scalped a fifer but it couldn't stop England from registering their first victory at the Ashes 2023 series. England would be desperate to make another comeback and equal the series.

The pitch at the Emirates Old Trafford will most likely favor batters. It is dry naturally and we can expect the spinners will come into play as the game progresses. The pacers may get some assistance from the surface with the new ball and the batters will have to be on their toes early in their innings. There will not be huge totals. Lower scores, with an average of 225 in the third innings and 168 in the fourth innings can be expected.

There is a 40% chance of rain predicted on the opening day of the fourth Test in Manchester. The temperature is expected to be below 20 degrees Celsius. Also, there is heavy rain predicted on the final two days of the Test.

England

Harry Brook will remain at number five while Moeen Ali will come to bat at no 3 just like he did in the Headingley. Anderson, who has the third-highest number of Test wickets of all time, was dropped for the third Test after taking just three wickets for 226 runs in the first two matches of the series. Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Stuart Broad will be in the rest of the bowling lineup, alongside Anderson.

Wood and Woakes both made their first appearance in the series in the third Test match and had a brilliant outing. Wood took seven wickets and scored 40 runs off 16 balls in the match, while Woakes took six and scored 42 including the winning runs. England will hope that Anderson is able to get back to the rhythm at his home ground during the fourth Ashes Test.

Australia

There are no other changes to the team with the rest eight keeping their places. Also, this will be the first time in 11 years that an Australian cricket team will play a Test match without a specialist spinner in their ranks. The last time this happened was when the Aussies faced India at the WACA in January 2012.

The visitors have loads of batters for the 4th Test at Old Trafford. Green is listed to bat at seven, which might push wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey to eight. This will be followed by Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Australia have players who can bat until ten, where Starc might come.

ICC Announces Equal Prize Money For Men's, and Women's Teams at the ICC Events

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced equal prize money for men's and women's teams at ICC events.

ICC Announces Equal Prize Money For Men's, and Women's Teams at the ICC Events

The ICC will award the same prize money to men's and women's champions and runners-up teams at the global ICC events. Teams will now receive equal prize money for the equal finishing position at comparable events and the same amount for winning a match at those events. Durban hosted the ICC annual conference, in which they took the decision. ICC also confirmed that from the next cycle, every ICC member will receive significantly enhanced funding with a strategic investment fund ring-fenced to drive global growth initiatives in line with the ICC Global Growth Strategy.

"This is a significant moment in the history of our sport. I am really happy that men's and women's cricketers competing at ICC global events will now receive the prize money equally. Since 2017 we have increased prize money at women's events every year with a clear focus on reaching equal prize money. So, from here on in, winning the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will carry the same prize money as winning the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup and the same for T20 World Cups and U19s too," ICC Chair Greg Barclay said in a statement released by ICC. "Cricket is genuinely a sport for all and this decision from the ICC Board reinforces that and enables us to celebrate and value every single player's contribution to the game equally," he added.

New Rules of Test Cricket Over-rate fines

The Chief Executives' Committee has also approved the changes to Test Cricket's over-rate fines. The new rules will take effect at the start of the current World Test Championship cycle. The players will have to pay 5 percent of their match fee for each over that falls short. The maximum penalty will be 50 percent. Also if a side is bowled out before reaching the 80-over mark and the new ball has not yet been delivered, no over-rate penalty will be enforced, regardless of any prospective delays. This amendment replaces the previous requirement of 60 overs.

Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Kings | Team News

Punjab Kings

Kings have no such issues in their team. They've backed themselves to play the games and find themselves on the same points as eight as Super Giants. Without their prime captain Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab Kings had an inexperienced top three that hasn't carried the baggage of the past and have tried to play with freedom. Liam Livingstone's return after missing the first few games has been timely.

PBKS have been over-reliant on Arshdeep Singh, who has delivered in crunch moments. He was brilliant against Mumbai Indians in the last game. Rahul Chahar hasn't been consistent, while Nathan Ellis and Curran have proved expensive. If the Kings can have a fully-fit Kagiso Rabada back and fire, they'll add another dimension to their bowling side.

Lucknow Super Giants

It is the bowling where Lucknow Super Giants are having edges. Their variety and class are likely to bring the long boundaries into play. At 40, Amit Mishra continuing his best by picking up wickets in regular intervals while his appearance inspiring Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya to keep themselves in control. The spin attack is restricting the opposition batters from scoring in the middle overs.

In batting, Kl Rahul has to step up with massive innings as he is not playing the t20 like t20. He is scoring runs but struggling at the same time. Kyle Mayers has to regain his form back otherwise LSG have a perfect man for the job and he is at his peak. Yes, it is De Kock who is sitting on the bench so the openers have to step up and score by changing the gears when needed.
