India Vs Bangladesh: India touches 376; Boom & co. in relief for fans

India has broken the backbone of Bangladesh top order before walking off for the lunch. The India vs Bangladesh first test has been nothing short of a rollercoatser. When the first session looked out of hand to the Indians, the century from Ravichandran Ashwin, guided by Ravindra Jadeja have put a fighting 376 runs on the board. The pitch that looked helpful to the fast bowlers since the morning, somehow started aiding the Indian batters in the second half, especially having spinning duo on the field.

Some difference in opinion may arise- if it was the pitch or Bangladesh's fielding or Ashwin's never ending love for Chidambaram stadium, its the runs that matters. Bangaldesh however entered the Lunch session with 3 wickets down, scoring 26 runs in overs. Thanks to Akash Deep and the maestro Jasprit Bumrah.

A long 43 days wait to see the top order fail

If anything that hurts a core Indian fan is that, Virat Kohli commiting to the 5th wicket trap. The photographer that was showing a happy lively moment of Kohli, Shubhman and th newly appointed coach Gautam Gambhir, was not probably what teh fans wanted. Yes seeing "Gauti" laughing can be a thing, but seeing Ro-Ko domintaing the field is the important.

Apart from a the fighting innings from Yashasvi Jaiswal (56 of 118), the top order actually had nothing to offer last day. Even though hopes sparked about Rohit Sharma to be an attacking one, but shatters, got edged while trying to block a slight outswinger from Hasan Mahmud.

And the series of wickets followed thereafter. Many were highlighting a glorious comeback of Rishabh Pant in the whites, with this series. However, Pant (39 of 52) had to come and join hands with Jaiswal, until the team crosses the danger line.

On the Tail Enders' Shoulders

Indian cricket team has somehow tagged the lower order batters as rescuers, rather major run scores, in need. Sometimes its Bumrah and Shami, sometimes its Siraj with his fabulous defence and what not! However, one should not judge the batting capabilities of Ravichandran Ashwin, when in need. Ash already has got 6 test centuries to his name, which equals to his former teammate captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni! Crazy enough!

Ravichandran Ashwin who can be easily tagged as the Indian present day spinning wizard, is a batting darkhorse. May be this one big reason why the Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumara Sangakara has been promoting him up the batting order.

List of Centuries scored by Ashwin:

  1.  124 vs West Indies in Kolkata, 2013
  2.  118 vs West Indies in Gros Islet, 2016
  3.  113 vs West Indies in North Sound, 2016
  4.  106 vs England in Chennai, 2021
  5.  103 vs West Indies in Mumbai, 2011

At points when a fan overcome the heartbreak from Ro- Ko exist, there comes Ravindra Jadeja who leaves with 86 runs. So close to a ton, yet not achieved! An edge, and sighs off...!

The Bowlers' Empire

The pitch since last day morning has had been a heaven for the first bowler. But if that helped Jasprit and men to pick quich wickets, is still a matter of discussion. With the likes of Ash-Jad duo, when the pitch looked to settle down, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah picked early 3 wickets before walking off to a happy lunch in the Indian dressing room.

Coming out rom the Lunch break, with Mohamamd Siraj on the other side Bumrah heleped India to have 2 more wickets in pocket.

Bangladesh, with 5 wickets down, is trying to strenghten the field with Shakib ul Hasan and Litton das with the bat in their hand.
