For the first time in 92 years of India's test cricket history, India secured more wins than defeats, in the 580 test matches it palyed. The country has won 179 matches, and lost 178 matches, and has drawn 223 matches.
India entered the first test match against Bangladesh with equal number of win and defeats. India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, thus marking a historic moment.

India enters the elite list
In 147 years of Test cricket, only seven teams had more win counts than defeats. Presently, only 5 teams have managed to maintain that record. Australia has the widest difference bettween its win and loss count. It was 414 win wins compared to 232 losses. England is right after it with 397 wins against 325 losses.
South Africa with 179 wins against 161 losses comes after England, with Pakistan following it at the fifth rank.

Earlier Afghanistan and West Indies used to don the list, but tables have turned with days.
Unlike India, test teams like New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh are yet to enter the elite list.
India Test Journey
In 1932, India played its first test. The team led by C.K. Nayudu faced the mighty England. However India face a crashing defeat of 158runs, Ironically, India's test came against England. And the venue was Chennai, that gave India its 179th win, in 1952. The heroics of Vinoo Mankad (4/53) and Ghulam Ahmed (4/77) in the second innings, helped India to register a win by an innings and eight runs.
After 92 years, India touched this feat. Even though it took a long time of 580, its never too late to start again!
