IPL 2021 Points Table: Delhi at the top after a thumping win

The 33rd Match between DC and SRH ends as one sider, as DC bowled out SRH in all departments and back again at the top of the IPL 2021 points table

Delhi Capitals was back in action yesterday night against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second leg of IPL 2021. Though there was some news of T. Natarajan getting covid positive, all was okay at the end. The match started as per plan as all the needed health guidelines were matched.

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first against Delhi Capitals. The South-African duo Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada started for Delhi Capitals. David Warner went for a duck in the very first over against Nortje's 150+ delivery. After that, Wridhiman Saha also fails to accelerate against Rabada as he was gone for 18 runs. Nortje in his first spell bowled the fastest ball of IPL 2021 (151.7 km/h).

Kane Willamson then tried to consolidate the inning of Hyderabad. But Axar Patel got him out in the boundary line for a struggling 18 runs off 26 balls. Manish Pandey also tried the same but failed miserably as also did not look at his near best. Pandey could only manage 17 runs off 16 balls was taken down by Kagiso Rabada.

After that Kedar Jadhav also fails to deliver again here, as scored only 3 runs in 8 deliveries he faced. However, it was Abdul Samad, the J & K cricketer was the lone warrior of this innings. Although, he has a company with Rashid Khan. As they scored 28(21) and 22(19) respectively.

In the end, Hyderabad could only manage 134 in their 20 over quota. Rabada finished with 4-37-3 while Nortje finished with 4-12-2.

Coming to bat at second innings Prithvi Shaw tried to give another quick-fire start for his team. But, he fails as Khallel Ahmed picks up Shaws wicket in the 3rd over of their innings. However, Shreyas Iyer, who was coming back from an injury was sent in the number three position. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar looked tight with the new ball.

Shikhar Dhawan continued his solid form with the bat as he started steadily again. Then cracked up his batting gears to hit some boundaries against Jason Holder and Sandeep Sharma. Dhawan then fell down to Rashid Khan while trying to slog sweep. He returned to the pavilion post scoring 42 runs off 37 balls.

After that DC skipper Rishabh Pant came to join with e DC skipper Shreyas Iyer. As Iyer looked sublime and classy, Pant got ready for an explosive finish. Pant looked to anti the run-rate as the flow of boundaries kept on coming from his bat. Few short balls from Kumar and Khaleel did bother him a bit, but he managed to score few boundaries of them as well. Delhi did not make a fish out of the chase like Punjab. As an impressive pull from Iyer gone for a six and sealed the deal for them. They win the match with eight wickets in hand in just 17.5 overs.

With 14 points in 9 matches Delhi Capitals is now at the top of the table of IPL 2021. Moreover, they overtakes Ms Dhoni's CSK to became no 1 after yesterday's match. On the other hand, SRH remains at the last position with 6 matches remaining to be played.
