English players departed from the Indian Premier League ahead of the playoffs and the franchises suffered a lot in the decisive stage. Former England captain Michael Vaughan doesn't think a series against the Pakistan Cricket Team is a better preparation for England ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The likes of Jos Buttler, Jacks, and Salt were part of IPl franchises that progressed to the playoffs. Vaughan feels they would've benefitted more from playing in the IPL in India.

Michael Vaughan feels playing IPL is better preparation than playing against Pakistan

Vaughan feels that IPL offers more high-pressure situations amid the enthusiastic crowd and expectations, it would prepare the players better for the T20 World Cup than playing a home series against Pakistan.

"I think you're going to miss the trick by sending all their players home. You know, I think Will Jacks, Phil Salt, Jos Butler, in particular, playing in the IPL in the eliminators, pressure, crowd, expectation. I would argue that playing here is better preparation than playing a T20 game against Pakistan," Vaughan said in a podcast.

"I'm all for international cricket, but now and again, this tournament in particular, it's so exposed to pressure. These players are under a huge amount of pressure from fans, owners, and social media. It's massive. I just felt particularly those two, and Butler, probably not as much, but I still think he could have stayed here," Vaughan added.

The first match was washed out due to heavy rain. Pakistan lost the second T20I, with Buttler's men securing a 23-run win on Saturday. England scored 183 runs after batting first and stopped Pakistan at 160. Jos Buttler was named the Player of the Match for his 84 while Jacks played a crucial inning in the middle.
