Royal Challengers Bangalore continued their campaign with their third victory in theย Indian Premier Leagueย 2023 as they faced Punjab Kings on Thursday, April 20, at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. After being put in to bat first, RCB got off to a great start as openerย Virat Kohliย and Faf du Plessis added 137 runs for the first wicket.ย However, RCB batters couldnโ€™t capitalise on a brilliant start and could only reach 174/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Dinesh Karthik once again failed to give a good finish to RCBโ€™s innings as he departed after scoring seven from five balls.

Dinesh Karthik in IPL 2023:

Karthik is having a forgettable season so far. He has just scored 45 runs from six innings at an average of nine and a strike rate of 140.62. Dinesh Karthik failed to take his side home in their fifth fixture against Chennai Super Kings as they required 46 off the last 24 balls to chase down the massive target of 227 having six wickets in hand. Tushar Deshpande dismissed him for 28 off 14 balls in the 17thย over of the innings, which led to RCB losing the game by eight runs. Karthik also failed to run out the batter on the last ball in RCBโ€™s third fixture against Lucknow Super Giants. Due to the misfield, LSG batters were able to complete the run on the last ball of the match and won the thrilling game.

The 37-year-old is having a completely poor season from the last edition, where he scored 330 runs in 16 innings at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 183.33. Everyone is just bashing Karthik for his poor form this season. โ€œWhat was wrong when I said part-time cricketer full-time commentator 1.5 years ago?โ€-Vikrant Gupta on DK
