Ishant did not get a game in the three-match Tests in South Africa. Moreover, he has last played for India in the first Test against New Zealand after the T20 World Cup 2021.

Ishant has fallen out of the race with strong competition from the likes of Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav for the third seamer in the side. Meanwhile, he hasn't looked at his best in his last game as well. The pacer who has played 105 Tests for India might no longer be in the plans for India. The BCCI has informed the veteran pacer that he is not in the future scheme of Rohit-Dravid management.
