BCCI secretary Jay Shah has been elected as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah is the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will officially assume the role of ICC head on December 1, 2024. Shah becomes the youngest person and the fifth from India to lead the global cricket governing body. Former Indians to lead the Global Cricket Governing Body

Jagmohan Dalmiya (1997-2000)

Jagmohan Dalmiya was the first Indian to head the International Cricket Council, serving as its President from 1997 to 2000. Dalmiya was behind the idea of bringing the 1996 World Cup to the Indian subcontinent and played a crucial role in increasing the revenue generation of the ICC. He and the then BCCI President Madhavrao Scindia secured the Indian subcontinent the hosting rights for the 1996 World Cup, beating favourites England. He became the first Asian and the first non-cricketer at the helm of ICC.

Sharad Pawar (2010-2012)

Sharad Pawar served as the ICC President from 2010 to 2012. Pawar heavily focused on strengthening the governance of the sport and enhancing its global outreach. He also played a huge role in the introduction of new formats and in improving cricket's infrastructure worldwide. Pawar's tenure at the ICC came after his term as President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He had a huge impact on Indian and global cricket.

N. Srinivasan (2014-2015)

N. Srinivasan became the ICC Chairman in 2014, following the restructuring of the ICC's governance model. He introduced the "Big Three" model, where India, England, and Australia were given greater control over cricket's finances and administration. Srinivasan's tenure was also marked by controversies and allegations of conflicts of interest.

Shashank Manohar (2015-2017, 2018-2020)

Shashank Manohar, a former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), served as the ICC Chairman twice. His first term began in 2015, succeeding N. Srinivasan. He was re-elected for the second time in 2018. He worked towards restructuring the ICC's financial model and governance structure. Manohar also played a key role in eliminating corruption within the sport.
