Pitch & Weather Report
Eden Gardens has been very batting-friendly in the last few years. Four out of seven matches played at the venue last season crossed the 200 mark. Five games have been played here so far this season, four of which have seen 200-plus scores in both innings. The last game between KKR and PBKS saw batting records being broken for fun. Punjab did the biggest run chase in T20 history and also the 42 sixes in that game were the highest number of maximums in a T20 game.
There have been 91 IPL matches played at the venue. 37 have been won by batting first teams but the chasing sides have an upper edge with 53 wins.
The temperatures will be around 35 degrees in the evening. There is no chance of rain and the humidity is expected to be close to 70 percent.

Team News
Kolkata Knight Riders
After losing their last game against the Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking for two points at home. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine are having a sensational season at the top of the batting order. Both the openers have contributed immensely and there is no doubt, they have been the most important players for the Knight Riders this season. Salt and Narine added 138 runs for the first wicket in the last game and set the stage for the next batters to put up a huge score.
Shreyas Iyer didn't have the great start he was expecting but slowly he is growing into the season. He played a good 28-run cameo of just 9 deliveries against PBKS in the previous game in the game against PBKS. Venkatesh Iyer has scored some important runs and his strike rate is also improving game by game. Along with them, Andre Russell has played his role as a finisher but Rinku Singh has not had the opportunity to score big runs this season. His form going into the final half of the tournament will be important for KKR.

But it is the bowling that is causing issues for KKR. Mitchell Starc didn't play the last game due to an injury but he hasn't been at his best for KKR too. Dushmantha Chameera replaced Starc but his debut IPL game didn't go as per his plan. He leaked 48 runs in his 3-over spell.
Harshit Rana has delivered some good spells this season but is inconsistent and gave away runs in every game. He leaked 61 runs in the previous game which cost KKR the historical game against PBKS.
Varun Chakaravarthy is having an average season and there are no signs of him getting better on that Eden Gardens wicket. He leaked 46 runs in his 3-over spell in the previous game. None of the bowlers except Sunil Narine was good and let PBKS chase down the huge target of 262.
Narine only conceded 24 runs in the previous game when everyone was conceding runs for fun. He is playing the role of an all-rounder properly. Andre Russell has bowled some critical overs but also conceded 36 runs in his 2-over spell in the game against PBKS. The KKR bowlers will have to step up if KKR need to win against an inform Delhi tonight.

Delhi Capitals
DC are coming into this huge game after winning their previous game. The Capitals put up a huge total of 257 but ended up winning the match by only 10 runs. The bowling has been a problem for Delhi and it would be difficult for them when they meet Kolkata at their turf on Saturday.
Prithvi Shaw didn't get the opportunity in the last game and David Warner is in on the bench too. Abishek Porel and Jake Fraser-McGurk started the last game and that worked in their favour. Fraser-McGurk has displayed his sensational hitting in the five matches he played this season. The right-handed batter has already scored 247 runs and can only improve. He scored 84 runs in only 27 deliveries in the last game and provided DC with a mindblowing start.
The South African youngster, Tristan Stubbs is a vital batter in the DC unit. Stubbs has scored 273 runs at an impressive strike rate of 192.21 so far this season. He also played his part in the last game, scoring 48 runs in only 25 deliveries as a finisher. Captain Rishabh Pant has also been impressive since making a comeback from a horrible accident. He has scored 371 runs for his side this season and is the main strength in the middle order.
One step at a time, Skip! 🙌

Axar Patel didn't have a great game against Mumbai and his season has been hot and cold. Mukesh Kumar picked up three wickets after bowling in the death overs but he also conceded 59 runs against MI. He would be hoping to improve from that pathetic bowling performance. Kuldeep Yadav is having a brilliant season but he too gave a poor performance in the previous game.
Lizaad Williams replaced Anrich Nortje but had a terrible outing. He will hope to improve from that otherwise DC will struggle against KKR. Khaleen did take two wickets but his economy is concerning. Rasikh Salam also bowled on the same pitch and ended up scalping 3 wickets in his 4-over spell. He didn't leak runs cheaply and helped DC win the game against MI.
