Marco and Duan Jansen becomes the first twins to play in IPL

Duan Jansen making his debut in IPL meant the Jansen brothers became the first identical twins in history to play IPL cricket. The Jansen Brothers are representing different franchises, but it is the first time twin brothers will be playing in an IPL season.

Duan Jansen was recruited by Mumbai Indians, while his older brother Marco Jansen plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Marco has made a fantastic start to his Indian Premier League 2023 campaign. The Proteas player has picked up 5 wickets in the two matches that he has played.

Marco Jansen has represented South Africa in senior-level international cricket, but Duan is yet to play for his country at the senior level. A massive confidence booster for Duan came when the Indian Test team came over to South Africa in 2017-18. Called up as a net bowler along with his twin brother, Marco, to bowl to Virat Kohli, he managed to impress the great man and earned a "well bowled" comment of praise.
