Kiwi opener Martin Guptill has scored the third most runs in the shortest format of the game, 3531 runs in 122 matches(118 innings). He is known for his classy aggressive approach to the game. Guptill made his first appearance in the T20s in 2009 against Australia. His T20 career has been of 11 years (2009-present) so far. Currently, he strikes at 135.71 in T20Is. He has 20 half-centuries and also two centuries in the format.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma takes the 2nd spot in terms of making the most runs in the history of T20I cricket, with 3741 runs in 143 games(135 innings). Sharma is one of the best openers to ever play the game. He also holds the record of scoring the most number(4) of 100s in T20 internationals. Rohit has also recorded 28 half-centuries in the format. He played his first T20I match in 2007 against England. Rohit has been playing for India for 15 years now.

#1. Virat Kohli | India | 3794 runs

Former India captain Virat Kohli is the top run-scorer (3794 runs in 102 innings) in T20I cricket. Kohli recorded 34 half-centuries and one century in the format. The modern-day great has consistently scored runs in all formats of the game. He is certainly one of the best batsmen the game has ever seen. Virat Kohli made his first appearance in a T20I against Zimbabwe in 2010. So far he has played 10 years of T20I cricket. Virat notched up the most runs in the 2014 T20 World Cup with 319 runs in 6 games.
