Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton of Namibia cricket team scored a century in 33 balls in the first match of the triangular T-20 series against Nepal cricket team. With this, he became the player to score the fastest T20I century.

Thanks to Loftie-Eaton's innings, Namibia, batting first, scored 206/4 after the stipulated 20 overs and won the match by 20 runs. When Namibia lost its third wicket at the score of 62 runs during the 11th over of the innings, Loftie-Eaton came to the crease. This left-handed batsman batted aggressively in the next over of Gulshan Jha, hitting 2 sixes and 1 four. He thrashed the opposition bowlers and completed his half-century in 18 balls. After this, Loftie-Eaton converted his innings into a century in 33 balls. He was out after scoring 101 runs.

Loftie-Eaton becomes the batsman to score the fastest T20I century

Loftie-Eaton broke the previous record of Nepal's Kushal Malla, who had scored a century in 34 balls against Mongolia during last year's Asian Games. In the fastest T20I century list, South Africa's David Miller, India's captain Rohit Sharma and Sri Lanka's Sadeera Samarawickrama are jointly at third place. These batsmen have completed their centuries in T-20 International in 35 balls each.

Loftie-Eaton breaks JP Kotze's record

Loftie-Eaton hit 11 fours and 8 sixes in his innings. He scored a total of 94 runs with the help of fours and sixes. The Namibian cricketer became the batsman who scored the most runs for Namibia in a T-20 international match with the help of fours and sixes. He also broke the previous record of JP Kotze in this matter. In 2019, Kotze had scored 82 runs in the T-20 international match against Botswana with the help of boundaries.

Lofty-Eaton becomes third batsman to score a century against Namibia in T20I

22-year-old Loftie-Eaton has played 33 T20 International matches so far, scoring a total of 283 runs at an average of 15.72 and a strike rate of 130.41. For the first time, he scored more than 50 runs in a T20 International match. He has now become only the third player to score a century for Namibia in T-20 International. Before him, Gerhard Erasmus and Kotze had scored centuries.

In the first T20 match of the tri-series, Namibia scored 206/4 with the help of Loftie-Eaton's century. Malan Kruger from Namibia played an unbeaten inning of 59 runs in 48 balls. Chasing a big target, Nepal team was out after scoring 186 runs in 18.5 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee played the highest innings of 48 runs from the Nepali team.
