Team News
Punjab Kings
The opening pair Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow have only put together one fifty-plus partnership this season. They both are having a terrible season and a strong opening pair is very important for a good start to any game. Dhawan has made 152 runs in five matches and looks completely out of touch. He is also out with an injury so Sam Curran will lead the side in the absence of him. Bairstow had become a liability for the team and Punjab decided to drop him. But both Sam Curran and Prabhsimran failed as the openers too.
Jitesh Sharma has made some impactful cameos but the management is making too many changes to his position. Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have shown what they can do and right now they are the only positive in PBKS' batting. Sam Curran has done decently in the tournament so far. His contributions in both departments are vital to PBKS. He won the first game for PBKS with the bat and showed his bowling prowess in the match against LSG, picking up three wickets. Curran can be considered an unlucky player at the moment as he is bowling good sometimes but the fielders are dropping catches and while in the batting, he isn't getting any support from the other end. He is a top all-rounder and Punjab should groom him properly.

Liam Livingstone featured in the last game after missing some matches due to an injury and got out, scoring only a single run. Harpreet Brar, who started the season on a high is now struggling to get anything fruitful from his bowling. But, he is a good spinner and will try to make a comeback strongly.
It seems like Harshal Patel is not a professional bowler. He hasn't delivered or justified his price yet and no one expecting anything from him. PBKS are just playing him because they paid a huge money for him at the Auction. His poor form or whatever is just going on and on. Kagiso Rabada is the main strength of Punjab's bowling unit and the Proteas seamer will hope to thrive against the struggling Gujarat Titans. Arshdeep Singh has bowled really well in some games and he is one of the most important players for Punjab.
Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans are eighth on the points table with 4 victories and 4 losses. Another defeat would leave them hanging at the bottom but a victory away from home will help them climb into the mid-table. It's been a difficult start to the season for Rashid Khan. David Miller and Wriddhiman Saha featured in the last game but couldn't contribute with runs. Vijay Shankar is out of form so they replaced him with Shahrukh Khan or Abhinav Manohar in the middle order but didn't do anything like spend.

Sai Sudharsan has scored runs consistently for Gujarat but he will have to improve his strike rate. Mohit Sharma has consistently performed for Gujarat and he has been the best bowler for them too. Noor Ahmed, Spencer Johnson, and Umesh Yadav are also expected to feature in the playing XI.
