The former Australian captain Ricky Ponting rejected the offer of becoming the head coach of the England cricket team. He informed the director of cricket Rob Key about the same and his unavailability for refusing the offer. Rob Key is searching for new faces to fill the position of England's head coach.
According to reports, the former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene is also unavailable for this position. Key approached him for the position too. According to Sportsmail, Ottis Gibson might be seen as England's head coach for the test team as Key decided to divide the roles and responsibilities for red-ball and white-ball cricket. Gibson has experience in coaching international teams as he was the coach of the West Indies team and South Africa team. He was also in charge of the fast bowlers of Bangladesh.
The 53-year-old also had a good connection with some of the senior players of the England cricket team while he was the first bowling coach of the team from 2015 to 2017. It was his second stint as he did the same job from 2007 to 2010.
