Indian men's cricket team captain Rohit Sharma created another record as a batter in the ongoing India vs Bangladesh test in Chennai. At 37-year-144 days old, the opener has become the oldest captain to complete 1000 runs in a calendar year.

Sharma has played 3 ODIs, 11 T20Is and 7 tests in 2024 while scoring 157 runs in ODIs, 378 in T20Is and 466 in tests. In 2024, the Indian men's cricket team captain averages 41.70 across three formats while maintaining a great strike rate of 93.72 in the 27 innings he has played so far.

From 13 innings, Rohit Sharma has gathered 466 runs, with an average of 38.83 runs. In the ongoing test at Chennai's Chidambaram Stadium, Rohit could not get going and only managed 6 & 5 in both innings. Despite the flop show, Sharma created the history.

Rohit scored two test hundreds and one half-century in the longest format so far. Sharma scored a stunning 103 against England at Dharmashala to guide India home before scoring an attacking 131 in Rajkot.

Captain Rohit Sharma has been phenomenal in white ball format with the bat since the 2023 World Cup. In 2024, he scored 1 T20I hundred, which came in the T20I series, against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

Though his year did not start that well in South Africa, as a captain HE managed to draw the series 1-1. As a batter, Rohit kept his best for the 2024 T20I World Cup.

The T20I World Cup has seen him as a captain leading from the front, with the bat. He finished the tournament with the trophy and was the second-highest run scorer of the tournament with 257 runs in 8 matches with a strike-rate of 156.70.

Part of the modern fav-four in cricket, Joe Root debuted in 2012 against India and announced himself with a gritty 73 from 229 balls.

In his sixth test, he scored his first test hundred against New Zealand and then two tests later, he smashed a 180 against the Aussies at Lord's. 

With 13006, he is the fifth-highest run scorer in test cricket history. He is the highest international and test scorer for England. Moreover, he is also the batter with the most test tons and runs among active batters in world cricket. 

Root till now has played only 153 test matches and has a batting average of 50.80. Since the start of 2022, Root has scored 13 test tons, scoring 3475 runs at an average of 53.46. He is also the highest run scorer in World Test Championship history.

Harshit Rana's journey in England has taken a significant turn as he has been asked to stay with the senior Indian Test squad for the upcoming series. He was initially part of the India A team that toured England.

During this time, Rana played two unofficial test matches against England Lions where he contributed with the ball (took an important wicket) and bat (scored 16 runs).

He was also involved in an intra-squad practice match in Beckenham, providing him further opportunities to showcase his skills in front of the senior team.

Following these engagements, the team management have decided to extend his stay and include him as backup. "Please don't count him as an official member of the squad as yet,” a top BCCI official told Cricbuzz to confirm Rana's presence.
