Yashasvi Jaiswal's 77 off 43 balls, along with an excellent finishing effort from Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal helped the Rajasthan Royals post 202/5. It was the first time that any team has scored over 200 runs in an IPL match at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. In reply, Chennai Super Kings struggled to be competitive in their chase. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 47 off 29 balls before becoming the second of three wickets that Adam Zampa took. Meanwhile, danger man Ajinkya Rahane fell for 15 off 13 balls and CSK were left hoping for a miraculous partnership to come from Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube. Dube kept them alive until about halfway through the 19th over where it pretty much became mathematically impossible for CSK to chase it down. Rajasthan Royals won the toss & decided to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler walked out for Rajasthan Royals while Akash Singh started with the ball for CSK. Jaiswal smashed a boundary in the first delivery and started Rajasthan's inning with a storm. Rajasthan accumulated 42 runs in the first 3 overs. Jaiswal scored 31 runs after facing 11 deliveries. The second ball of the fifth over bowled by Deshpande deposited into the stands over the deep square leg for a six by Jaiswal. That was as perfect as it got for RR in the powerplay. Buttler ended it by hitting the last ball down the ball off the backfoot, similar to what he had done off the second ball of that over. Rajasthan slammed 64 runs at the end of the powerplay. Jaiswal completed his third half-century of the season.

Jadeja drew the first blood by dismissing Jos Buttler for 27 runs in the ninth over. Sanju Samson came into the crease who is having a hot & cold season so far. Jaiswal continued to bombard with boundaries while Samson took time to settle in. Tushar Deshpande broke the 39 runs partnership in the 14th over by dismissing Sanju Samson for 17 runs. He also sent Jaiswal home in the same over. Jaiswal did his job by playing a fabulous knock of 77 runs in just 43 deliveries after slamming 8 fours and 4 massive sixes.

Theekshana then removed Hetmyer who only was able to contribute 8 runs to the total. Jurel & Padikkal took responsibility from there and added 56 runs in the last 23 deliveries. Jurel is in top form and he once again played a blistering cameo of 34 runs in just 15 deliveries with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Padikkal joined the party by scoring 27 in just 13 deliveries with 5 boundaries.

Although Jurel got run out in the last over, he did a splendid job in the death overs. Theekshana only gave 24 runs in his 4-over spell and also picked up a wicket. Tushar Deshpande got 2 crucial wickets but was average in the last over of his spell. Rajasthan Royals put up a huge total of 202 after the end of 20 overs.

Ruturaj & Conway opened the chase while Sandeep Sharma started proceedings with the bowl to defend the mammoth total. Rajasthan started tightly as Sandeep Sharma was too economical in his first 2-over spell. CSK only managed to score 42 runs in the powerplay. Adam Zampa picked up the wicket of Conway (8) in the last over of the powerplay.

Gaikwad and Rahane constructed a partnership but they weren't able to boost the net run rate. Gaikwad missed his half-century once again as he got dismissed for 47 runs in the 10th over. Adam Zampa picked up his wicket at the right moment to give CSK a huge blow. Ashwin then dismissed Rahane in the next over as CSK lose 3 wickets at the score of 73. He got another one by dismissing Raydu in the save over.

Dube and Moeen Ali took responsibility and took CSK to a decent position to keep the hopes alive. Moeen Ali scored 23 runs in 12 deliveries as Adam Zampa dismissed him in the 15 over. Dube went on and reached his third consecutive half-century but CSK fell short by 32 runs. Rajasthan Royals won the second time against Chennai Super Kings this season and climbed to the top of the table. Sandeep Sharma wasn't able to scalp a wicket but he was too economical in a high-scoring chase against a star-studded batting lineup like CSK. Ashwin picked up two wickets while Zampa was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets.
