Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20 Trophy: Central Zone wins, Nuzhat and Kanojiya top the leaderboard

Central zone led by Poonam Yadav won the Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20 Trophy. They defeated West Zone in the final by 9 wickets at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Nuzhat Parween, the Railways and Central Zone wicket-keeper batter emerged as the tournament's highest run-getter with 271 runs. Parween had an impressive average of 54.20 in the tournament. Meanwhile, Rashi Kanojiya was the tournament's joint-highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets.

West Zone, led by Yastika Bhatia won the toss and decided to bat first. However, winning the toss was the only thing that went well for Yastika. Post that, everything seemed to go against the West Zone team. Yastika herself could only manage 10 runs from 12 balls as they faced early setbacks by Anjali Sarvani and Poonam Yadav. Later it was Rashi Kanojiya who did all the damage for the Central Zone team.

Yastika and company only managed to put 67 on the board in the first inning as Poonam Yadav, the Central Zone leader took 3 for 11 in her 3 overs. Anjali finished with 2/17 in her full quota of 4 overs. Rashi took 2 wickets for just 3 runs. Only Shinde and Vaidya's partnership went over the 20-run mark in West Zone's first inning.

Central Zone's chase always looked in control with wicket-keeper Nuzhat Parween and opener Jasia Akhter looking in red-hot form throughout the tournament. Both Nuzhat and Jasia had a great Senior Women's T20 Trophy as well for the respective teams. Railways and Jammu & Kashmir.

Shradda Pokharkar brought the first breakthrough for the West Zone team but it was too late for them to make a comeback in the final. Shradda got Jasia clean bowled in the 9th over of the chase. However, a steady 32 from 44 balls from Nuzhat saw the Central Zone team home with 9 wickets in hand.

This is Poonam Yadav's successive championship win this season as a captain. She already had led the Railways team in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy for their 11th title. Poonam also finished with 8 wickets in the Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20 Trophy.

Along with Jasia Akhter and Nuzhat Parween, Sneha Deepthi had a wonderful tournament with the bat. Sneha had the highest strike rate (162.85) in the Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2022. Indian batter Sushma Verma also had a good tournament 186 runs at an average of 46.50.

In bowling, Anjali Sarvani and Harleen Deol had an excellent tournament. Anjali finished as the join-highest wicket-taker of the Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20 Trophy tournament. Meantime, all-rounder, Harleen Deol took 9 wickets. Not to forget her 117 runs at an average of 39 as well. Senior pacer Shikha Pandey also had an impressive tournament as she picked up 7 wickets in 5 matches with an economy rate of 4.05 runs per over.
