The Mumbai Indians-owned franchise MI Emirates team has appointed New Zealand's Shane Bond as the head coach for the upcoming UAE T20 League

The Mumbai Indians-owned franchise MI Emirates team has appointed New Zealand's Shane Bond as the head coach for the upcoming UAE T20 League. Bond is the current bowling coach of Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel has also been appointed as the batting coach. Apart from these, former pacer Vinay Kumar as the bowling coach, and former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin as the fielding coach of MI Emirates. Besides former Mumbai Indians all-rounder, James Franklin will be the team's fielding coach. The MI Emirates said in a release here on Saturday.

"It's always exciting to build a new team and I'm looking forward to furthering the MI legacy and inspiring our players to take the game to new heights," Bond said in a statement.

Bond joined Mumbai Indians in 2015 and since then the team has won 4 titles. Over the years he has groomed bowlers in such a way that they realized their potential at the global level.

Moreover, former Mumbai Indians coach Robin Singh will be the general manager of MI Emirates for the UAE T20 League. Robin Singh joined the Mumbai Indians coaching team in 2010. He has been a part of 5 IPL and 2 Champions League title campaigns since then. He has also worked with Shane Bond. His joining will greatly benefit the Emirates team and will enable Mumbai Indians to expand their cricketing mindset in the UAE.

"Having been an integral part of MI for various periods of time, the coaching team is exceptionally well-versed in the values that make MI what it is," Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, which owns the three teams, said in a statement.

Former New Zealand batsman James Pamment will join as the fielding coach of the team. Former South African player and home coach Robin Peterson will be the general manager of the team. Pamment is the current fielding coach of Mumbai Indians. At the same time, Peterson has played for Mumbai Indians.

Earlier, the Mumbai Indians franchise had announced the coaching staff of their team MI Cape Town for the SA20 tournament starting next year in South Africa. Former Australia opener Simon Katich will be their coach. Apart from Katich, South African legend Hashim Amla will also be part of the team.
