Liverpool have reportedly agreed on a deal with Feyenoord to hire Arne Slot as their new manager from the next season. Jurgen Klopp is leaving Anfield at the end of the season, and the talks had been going on between Liverpool and last season’s Eredivisie champions, Feyenoord, for Arne Slot. Multiple reports on Friday came stating that a compensation package was agreed verbally between both clubs, and Slot will become the next manager of the Reds.

Slot has publicly stated he is very much interested in becoming the Liverpool manager and is free to negotiate terms with the Premier League club. According to The Athletic, first-team coach Sipke Hulshoff and head of performance, Ruben Peeters are also coming alongside the Dutch tactician.

Klopp had previously refused to comment on his potential successors but finally opened up on Friday about his happiness with Slot being the most likely to take over.

“What I like a lot about him, if he is the one, is that he wants to take the job. He’s desperate, let’s go for it, excited. I like the way his team plays football. All the things I hear about him as a guy, good guy. Some people I know, know him, but I don’t know him personally. Some people tell me he is a really good guy. I like that a lot," Klopp said.

“Good coach, good guy. If he is the solution or the man, I am more than happy. It’s not up to me, but that all sounds good to me,” Jurgen Klopp added.

As per reports, Feyenoord rejected Liverpool's initial offer worth £7.7 million. The final deal reportedly involves a payment of up to £9.4 million (approximately €10.9 million), including a base fee and potential add-ons. This financial arrangement compensates Feyenoord for the remaining two years of Slot's contract with the Dutch club.

The Reds were also linked with former midfielder Xabi Alonso, who later publicly said that he wanted to continue in Germany. Sporting coach Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton were also on target. However, Slot will be the man who will succeed Klopp at Liverpool in the upcoming season.

Arne Slot has been managing Feyenoord since July 2021. Under his tenure, Feyenoord had significant achievements, including an Eredivisie title and a runner-up finish in the Europa Conference League. The Dutch tactician will arrive at Anfield next season after finishing second with Feyenoord in Eredivisie 2023-24. They have three games left this season but are also nine points behind PSV in the points table.
