Atletico Madrid dismantled Rayo Vallecano 7-0 on Monday night with a ruthless display and registered their largest-ever away win in La Liga. Antoine Griezmann scored the opener before Memphis Depay netted the second from close range from Saul Niguez's cross. Depay sustained an injury in the first half, but Nahuel Molina scored home the third to kill the game before half-time. Substitute Alvaro Morata scored in the 73rd minute and then again in the 84th minute after Angel Correa grabbed the fifth, with Marcos Llorente finishing the riot by scoring the seventh.

"We had a great game from the start, with a lot of intensity. They're three important points and I'm very happy with the team's work today," Antoine Griezmann said.

Atletico's statement victory took them second in the table, just two points behind leaders Real Madrid. Rayo started the season well with two wins in their first two matches. Diego Simeone's side brought them down to reality with this result.
