Valencia have pulled off a shocking but deserving 2-1 win against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu!

It all started with a crazy first half, which started off with Mamardashvili denying Vinicius from the penalty spot in the 13th minute of the game. Right after the mishap, Mouctar Diakhaby headed it into the net for Valencia to put Valencia ahead. Despite a lot of chances, Real Madrid failed to net a goal in the first half. 

Los Blancos salvaged the equalizer only five minutes into the second half as Vinicius Jr flicked it home to level the score. However, a resilient Valencia defence led by Cesar Tarrega and custodian Giorgi Mamardashvili became the only difference between Madrid and a second goal. Kylian Mbappe failed to bag a goal despite many opportunities, whereas Valencia also failed to score in the regulation time.

However, Hugo Duro quieted the Bernabeu crowd with a striking header in the fifth minute of the stoppage time to snatch away all three points, securing a famous away win. Valencia have boasted their league position to avoid relegation, but Real Madrid have lost an important game in the road of their title chase. 

It had to be him!

Rudiger was in a one-on-one position with Mamardashvili after the defender anticipated a long ball. However, the Valencia custodian is brilliant tonight, making another huge save to prevent any late fall.

Hugo Duro has stunned the Bernabeu crowd!

Rafa Mir perfectly whipped in a pin-point cross from the right while the Madrid defence was scattered. Hugo Duro overshadowed Rudiger in the middle, powering a perfectly placed header that struck the net!

Diego Lopez had all the space in front of him while sprinting upwards on the right flank. He crossed it to find Rafa Mir in the middle of the box, but Rudiger obstructed Mir's effort, denying him from finding the net.

Mbappe and Fran Gracia exchanged a one-two before Garcia played it back to Mbappe inside the penalty area. Mbappe lodged a whipped strike, but it went off target- again!

It's been such a distressing night so far for the Los Blancos' forward.

Rafa Mir whipped in the free-kick into the middle of the box as Diakhaby and Vasquez both attempted to flick the ball, but it went to Fran Gonzalez. The debutant Real Madrid keeper failed to grab the ball at first but claimed it later.

Mbappe dribbled past Diakhaby on the left to make a perfect cross inside, but Rodrygo's header was missed to the right of the near post.

Rodrygo attempted a firm strike after a couple of attempts from his companions, but his shot was blocked by Vasquez at the right side of the penalty area.

Diepo Lopez sliced a right-footed strike from outside the box that went wide off the far post.

Jude Bellingham executed a flashy move on the left as he went past the defender to unleash a left-footed grounder from a tough angle, as Mamardashvili extended his leg to stop the strike.

Modric delivered a vicious cross into the box from the corner, and the ball sailed past the players in the middle and found Vini on the right side. The Brazilian got a powerful touch at the end, sending the ball into the net!

Vinicius redeems himself after the tragic penalty miss in the first half.

Mbappe flashed a quick shot from just outside of the box, but Mamardashvili made another great stop!

An error from Valencia midfield regained possesion for Madrid as Brahim Diaz passed it to a running Mbappe in front of the box. He fired another strike that went over the crossbar!

Not a lucky half for the French superstar. 

Jude Bellingham carried out a quick counter-attack. He sprinted through the opposition players and fired a grounded strike from the edge of the box before going down in a challenge, but the ball rolled just wide off the far post.

The ball deflected off the players who jumped following the corner and ended up in front of Mbappe. The Madrid forward quickly flashed a strike, but it smashed the woodwork! The whistle for offside is also blown.

Mbappe received the ball on the edge of the box as he curled a right-footed strike targeting the far post, but the ball went inches wide off the post!

Cesar Tarrega has been impeccable at the heart of Valencia's defence. This time, he shielded Bellingham on the right, restraining him from having possession.

Bellingham was dancing through the Valencia defence from the left and was close to attempting a strike, but Mosquera made a clean last-time tackle to deny the midfielder.

Almeida was sprinting upwards, seeing an open space in front of him inside the Madrid box, but Tchouameni made a crucial block in perfect time to deny his strike.

Crazy series of events here in Bernabeu!

The referee checks the VAR screen again and locates Kylian Mbappe, adjudged to be in an offside position in the middle of the opposition defenders while the attack was building!

The goal is revoked!

That is a very weird way to concede an own goal!

Diakhaby, who was Valencia's hero after the opening goal, has put it into his own net while trying to kick the ball out in attempt to make a clearance!

Vazquez needed some medical attention after going down in a battle against Umar Sadiq. He is back on the pitch after a moment, and the game has started.

A brilliant cross was delivered into the box by Diego Lopez from the corner as Mouctar Diakhaby jumped above all to head it into the net!

Valencia are ahead!

Vinicius slotted his strike to his right side, aiming to put it through the bottom corner, but Mamardashvili was absolutely on point as he dived to deny the spotkick!

Rudiger lobbed a long ball from the midfield for a running Mbappe up front, who was sprinting into the box, but Tarrega obstructed him from behind.

There is a loud appeal from the Madrid players for a potential penalty, and the referee has gone to a VAR check!

Cesar Tarrega is also shown a yellow for that challenge.

Jesus Vazquez looked dangerous from the left flank as he delivered a cross into the box, but Tchouameni was in a perfect position to make a block.

Luka Modric made a through pass into the box while going down in a tussle, but Kylian Mbappe failed to connect a touch with the ball. 

However, he was also flagged for being in an offside position.

Modric played a forward pass to Vazquez, running on the right, who crossed a low grounder into the box. However, Tarrega made a quick clearance.

Real Madrid netted two late goals to snatch away all three points in a 2-1 victory over Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on January 4th, 2025.

Hugo Duro broke the deadlock for Valencia in the 27th minute, and the hosts remained ahead till the 84th minute. Luka Modric scored the equalizer in the 85th minute, and Jude Bellingham netted the winner in the sixth minute of the stoppage time.

So it will be another El Classico in the Copa Del Rey final in Sevilla. Barcelona were the better team and attacked more in the first half, resulting in a goal from Ferran Torres. They could have scored more if they had latched onto the chances created mainly by Lamine Yamal. 

But atletico Madrid brought in three changes at the start of the second half, which made them attack more frequently and freely.

Just after the Yamal pass, we see Atletico making a counter attack and that allowed Julian Alvarez to make a cross from the right.
